Summary
Join the Center for New York City Neighborhoods as a Pipeline Legal Intern for the 2025 Summer term! This part-time, remote internship offers law students hands-on experience in various legal areas, including compliance, housing law, and nonprofit governance. You will collaborate with attorneys and professionals, contributing to projects and improving internal practices. The internship requires a 15-20 hour/week commitment for 12 weeks and a competitive stipend of $4,200 is offered. Ideal candidates are first- or second-year law students from ABA-accredited schools with excellent communication and organizational skills. The Center prioritizes diversity and encourages applications from students from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
- Be a first- or second-year law student in good standing for the degree of J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Be an enrolled and registered student at an accredited law school
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively across several diverse internal groups and teams
- Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrate an ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate an ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Demonstrate a growth mindset through resilience, engaging in expansive thinking, and showing curiosity
- Be passionate about promoting affordable homeownership and an equitable New York
- Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Office Suite or related software
Responsibilities
- Research legal issues impacting program policy and strategy
- Draft transactional documents, reports, memoranda, or other written work products for internal and/or external stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal teams on cross-group projects
- Attend internal working group and program meetings
- Collaborate with other members of the Center to implement and continuously improve practices, protocols, and tools
- Other duties reasonably related to the position may be required
