Summary

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience
  • Has led multiple products or services and delivered them successfully
  • Has broad industry experience, can influence and lead teams, has responsibility across multiple teams, products and the organization
  • Demonstrates excellence in all parts of the product management role
  • Track record of superior judgment in product development. Identifies risk and gaps across product development in the organization and successfully mitigates them
  • Expert communication skills and experience and comfort with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead high quality product development using an agile methodology - iteratively improving products through delivery cycles
  • Proven ability to interpret and leverage user research, usability testing, and data analytics to make and validate product decisions
  • Have a handle on the day to day and an ability to forecast, plan, connect incremental short-term progress with a long-term vision
  • Strong product judgment - knowing when to prototype and when to code, when to experiment, and when to change direction
  • A passion for our mission of making government services better for people who need them

Responsibilities

  • Leading cross-functional teams to deliver products and solutions that show government what’s possible and deliver impactful human-centered experiences
  • Partnering with government agencies and help them deliver mission-critical software
  • Collaborating with government agencies to help them build their capacity and establish sustainable best practices for product development
  • Setting product strategy and execution for large scale initiatives
  • Own the product strategy and execution of multiple projects
  • Lead direction and strategy for various products and services, understanding how these contribute to the long term aims of the organization
  • Lead the organization's credibility and thought leadership in domain or subject matter. Actively support others with their domain and strategy expertise
  • Partner with other senior cross-functional leaders to define the overall strategy for your projects
  • Driving stakeholder alignment
  • Communicate product vision and strategy to your team with clarity and enthusiasm
  • Partner with the senior program leaders to define the overall strategy for your projects
  • Collaborate with discipline leads to develop and evolve team processes that enable us to focus on the right things and execute efficiently
  • Collaborating on cultivation of new projects
  • Representing the product discipline in cultivation efforts, including communicating about the approach, the work, and the outcomes of our projects
  • Being a thought partner to the cultivation team to help create the vision for new projects
  • Collaborating on scoping projects, including writing statements of work and helping to estimate effort and staffing as needed to ensure our teams are able to deliver successfully
  • Collaborate with and mentor product managers and other discipline members
  • Share best practices and approaches
  • Identify ways to help increase product and technology knowledge
  • Contribute to the Product Management practice at Code for America
  • Deputy for product leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Product advisory/consulting work with government, civic tech, or highly regulated industry
  • Business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) product management experience, in particular working with government or large enterprises

Benefits

  • Salary: Code for America’s salary bands are transparent as a part of our commitment to transparency and fairness. As part of our hiring practices, we aim to target the midpoint of the 2nd quartile of the range for all new hires. Offer targets vary based on market / geographic location. The offer targets for this role range from $143,884 to $176,138 , annually
  • Laptop provided
  • $700 remote environment setup; $200 stipend and up to $500 reimbursement, in accordance with our equipment policy
  • Cell phone and/or internet reimbursement of $50 per month
  • $1000 annual (per calendar year) stipend towards professional development; prorated at time of hire
  • Up to $1000 of professional development funds can be rolled over each year, up to a maximum of $2000
  • Employees under 3 years are eligible for a 100% employer match of up to 3% of employee contribution
  • Employees with 3+ years are eligible for an additional 50% employer contribution over 3%, to a maximum of 5%
  • Full benefits package with options up to 100% coverage toward select medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Employer contributes up to 80% of the cost towards dependent and family coverage
  • Code for America employees may work remotely across the US
  • Code for America employees main residence must be within the US
  • Full-time employees work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
  • Collaborative working hours: we aim to hold all internal meetings between 10 AM - 3 PM PT. We expect all Code for America staff to be available during these set working hours
  • Open personal time off, a minimum of 16 paid holidays, and an org-wide closure from Christmas Day through New Year's Day
  • Paid sick time; up to 96 hours annually
