Requirements
Experience: 8+ years in Corporate Development, Investment Banking, Venture Capital, or Business Development, with a successful track record in Enterprise Technology, particularly in DevOps, ITOM, and Security
Responsibilities
- Develop a product acceleration strategy, prioritizing strategic adjacencies and categories for potential investment
- Conduct in-depth market and competitive assessment across relevant categories to identify growth opportunities and category potential (TAM, SAM)
- Understand competitor M&A and validate strategic rationale, continuously updating insights to guide the Dynatrace Leadership Team's informed decision-making for acquisitions
- Develop the strategic framing of market opportunities for identified M&A categories, including value propositions, use cases, and potential revenue growth pathways
- Lead a thoughtful, research-oriented outbound sourcing strategy targeted at strategic businesses in adjacent sectors and feature/tuck-in acquisitions in the core market
- Build a network of investment banks and venture capital firms to increase brand awareness and deal flow, particularly in the Preseed, Seed, and Series A markets
- Cultivate relationships with niche infrastructure software investors, particularly in non-traditional areas, such as vertically focused European funds, niche seed funds, and software-focused family offices
- Collaborate closely with leadership and critical business units to identify high-impact acquisition opportunities, accelerating the Dynatrace product roadmap
- Build and maintain a comprehensive database of potential acquisition targets, cultivating relationships with key executives and monitoring strategic relevance, technical evolution, and financial health
- Attend industry conferences and engage with thought leaders to stay informed on emerging trends, customer demands, and evolving technologies, strengthening Dynatrace market positioning
- Serve as a key liaison between Product and Corporate Development, ensuring alignment on priorities and facilitating efficient collaboration across M&A processes
- Provide strategic M&A recommendations to executive leadership and the board, presenting high-quality board materials with clear ROI and synergy analyses
- Support valuation analyses, term sheet negotiations, and M&A execution, ensuring deals align with long-term product and strategic goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Financial Acumen: Expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence, as well as the ability to present business cases to executive audiences
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to anticipate market shifts, identify emerging trends, and strategically engage startups and partners long before acquisition discussions
- Product Insight: Experience working closely with product teams to ensure investment 'thesis' aligns with and enhances the product roadmap
- Relationship Building: Established network and proven ability to build relationships with founders, VCs, and product leaders
- Execution-Driven: Demonstrated ability to manage and execute multiple projects and deals, with the agility to prioritize and pivot as needed
