Summary

The job description is for a part-time Program Manager I - Mobility Safety Impact CPS at The National Safety Council. This role involves developing and executing transportation safety programs, project management, outreach, and relationship management. The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience or 6 years of relevant experience in lieu of education. They must be a U.S. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) and conduct virtual car seat checks. Excellent communication, presentation, technical writing, and social media skills are required. The position is remote and part-time with an hourly rate of $28 - $31.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience. In lieu of education, at least 6 years of relevant experience
  • U.S. Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST)
  • Conducting virtual car seat checks is an expectation for this position
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as solid presentation skills and social media skills
  • Ability to write technical articles, research findings, web entries, and blogs
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute transportation safety programs involving public education, partnership agreements, event coordination, content production, and other behavior-change activities to reduce injuries and fatalities associated with the company’s strategies and initiatives
  • Coordination of and user support for the learning management system (LMS) at www.carseateducation.org used to deliver child passenger safety national trainings
  • Coordination and support the Pediatric Vehicular Heatstroke Stakeholders Workgroup
  • Provide back-up support of the Safety Connection: Virtual Resource Center at https://carseateducation.org/safety-connection
  • Define the main objectives of the projects, their purpose, and the scope
  • Create integrated and ongoing project plans to include key deliverables and milestones and the tasks required to complete each
  • Execute the work or assign work as part of the plan
  • Monitor and control the processes/tasks associated with the project
  • Provide knowledge, education, awareness of products/services to any population that might not otherwise have access to or know of NSC programs
  • Write articles, blogs or similar outreach documents for print or online publications
  • Knows public policy, issues, legislature and regulatory influences, as well as scientific research, and reports the most effective strategies to address the issues
  • Participate in trade show or other similar events
  • Engage in regular communication with, and build relationships in all directions (e.g., peers, supervisors, funders, stakeholders) to advance the strategy / program
  • Support and encourage an environment that appreciates the diversity of employees’ and stakeholders’ styles, opinions and perspectives
  • Relay information, build consensus, fact-find, and maintain transparency and open exchange, while keeping partners up to date and notified of program status and impact
  • Communicate with other NSC initiatives, campaigns, and departments to identify potential dissemination and cross-collaboration opportunities
