Summary
Join World Relief, a global Christian humanitarian organization, and make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable populations. As a Program Officer in the Global Response and Recovery (GRR) Unit, you will support project implementation and program development, acting as a liaison between the Home Office and assigned country offices. Key responsibilities include monitoring project progress, developing future programming, proposal writing, financial management, and internal coordination. This role requires international experience in humanitarian work, strong writing skills, a university degree (Master's preferred), and a commitment to World Relief's mission. - Fluent in both written and spoken English
- Minimum one-year experience working internationally with a humanitarian, relief or development organization, or similar work experience, either as a full-time employee, volunteer or intern
- Demonstrated ability to successfully engage in a multicultural and multi-linguistic environment, and understanding of cross-cultural sensitivity
- Strong writing skillsets, preferably in proposal development writing and report writing for government and/or institution donors
- University degree in related field, Masterโs degree preferred
- Ability to travel to hardship locations 3 โ 6 weeks annually
Responsibilities
- Facilitate engagement between the GRR Senior Unit Director, other Program Officers, and relevant country office staff to ensure program quality, compliance with annual strategic plans and organizational mission
- Liaise between country office leadership and various divisions within World Relief to ensure efficient and accurate management of country office program, as well as to provide to-date communications and information sharing internally
- Travel to field sites as necessary and assigned by the Senior Unit Director
- Provide oversight and monitoring of country office activities to ensure internal and donor compliance, and other requirements related to country office operations including local capacity development
- Monitor grants, contracts and MOUs to ensure compliance
- Provide writing support in business development activities and concept note/proposal development and submissions
- Coordinate private fundraising efforts with the field
- Provide representation, networking and cultivation of relationships with technical donors and other organizations implementing programs, including management of USAID/BHA relationships in Washington
- Establish leadership and personal credibility while implementing and maintaining a clearly defined and understood chain of authority and accountability
- When requested, represent World Relief at professional conferences, events, meetings, program related workshops, as well as publishing of content
- Participate in and monitor progress of Resilience program objectives
- Provide support to World Reliefโs membership in the Integral Alliance with reporting, updating, liaison and other duties as specified
- Backstop for country offices as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications

- Preferable experience in grant writing, especially for international institutions including USAID and UN agencies
- Understanding of donor management and initiative-taking with key stakeholders including but not limited to government donors, private donors, churches, UN agencies and other international coordination forums
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and capability to manage change and inspire teamwork through positive influence and active relationship building with country office teams
- Demonstrates knowledge and capacity to foster development of a common vision and can identify pathways to meet strategic goals
- Relevant experience in government, international development, non-profit or mission work
- Demonstrated organizational skills, and ability to respond professionally and effectively to multiple and often competing demands
- Must be able to multi-task and work well on multiple projects, while being able to prioritize
- Demonstrated task and project implementation aptitude. Strong track record of completing tasks in a timely manner, detail oriented, and ability to self-start new tasks with limited prompting
- Fluency in a second language pertinent to the portfolio a plus, preferably French, Ukrainian, Arabic or Kiswahili

- $55,000 - $60,000 a year
