Join Velocity Global's growing Corporate Accounting team as a Regional Senior Accountant based in Colombia (Bogota or Medellin preferred). This full-time role involves leading various corporate finance responsibilities, including monthly close processes, financial statement preparation and reporting, compliance, tax returns, and reconciliations across entities in the Americas. You will report to the Regional Finance Director and ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting principles, and work with local vendors on statutory financial statements and tax filings. The position requires a BA/BS in Finance/Accounting or equivalent, relevant professional qualifications (CA/ACCA/CPA), 5+ years of experience, and business English proficiency. Requirements

  • BA/BS in Finance/Accounting or equivalent working experience
  • Relevant professional qualifications in finance, such as CA/ACCA/CPA
  • 5+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • Business proficiency in the English language
  • In-depth understanding of month close, accounts receivable and accounts payable processes

Responsibilities

  • Help with the local month-end close processes and maintenance of general ledgers
  • Ensure accurate monthly financial reporting deliverables, including reconciliations, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Oversight and support of daily finance operations within the Americas Region
  • Prepare, record, and adjust Journal entries. Process, research and record invoices, payments, and expenses
  • Perform monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations to provide an accurate monthly accounting close process, including reviewing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable accounts
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company procedures, and regulations
  • Work with local vendors to help prepare local statutory financial statements for relevant assigned entities, and participate in any required financial statement audits
  • Work with local Vendors to assist with the preparation and review of Tax filings on a monthly/quarterly basis (including VAT returns)
  • Identify and assist with process improvement projects across the Americas Region
  • Help with special projects based on the needs of the finance department

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in corporate tax preparation and local statutory accounting reporting in other countries such as Canada, Brazil, Mexico, or Argentina
  • Experience in foreign currency transactions and understanding of IFRS or US GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and NetSuite experience
  • Display appropriate ethical knowledge through extraordinary integrity and professional conduct
