Retail Sales Intern

Summary

Join our team as a Retail Sales Intern and assist multiple Territory Sales Managers in boosting Golden Hippo pet brand sales. This remote internship (Virginia, New York, or Pennsylvania) involves virtual sales calls to pet stores, in-store demonstrations, and independent field work. You will support the Territory Sales Manager in all aspects of their business, build relationships with smaller stores, and conduct market analysis. The role offers opportunities to learn all aspects of field sales, attend industry events, and grow within the company. The position requires 50% travel within the assigned market area and a relevant degree program.

Requirements

• Ability to travel 50% of the time within market area
• Currently enrolled in a relevant or business degree program
• Strong communications and presentation skills
• Strong Microsoft Office skills
• Self-motivated and self-directed
• Detail-oriented with exceptional follow-through skills to ensure tasks are completed accurately
• Curiosity and commitment to ongoing growth, staying updated on industry trends, and uncovering new opportunities

Responsibilities

• Grow distribution and service levels in assigned virtual territory of smaller stores within the Area
• Deliver in-store demonstrations, marketing/merchandising support and employee training for stores in geographic (assigned) territory
• Assist TSM in all aspects of their business in assigned territory
• Help build strong relationships with smaller stores in assigned territory through independent account calls
• Deliver Ad Hoc analysis via store visits (ie. Competitive pricing, competitive brand communications, etc…)
• Learn all aspects of field sales in the independent pet channel
• Take part in Area meetings to learn and grow
• Attend industry events in the Area , including distributor and retailer shows, to represent the brands and expand your network and stay updated on industry trends
• Maintain an understanding of pet brands, the independent pet channel and the pet industry on the whole

Preferred Qualifications

• Some basic retail or sales type experience or past internship preferred
• Some relevant pet industry experience preferred
