Ruby on Rails Software Developer, Remote - Canada

Summary

Claris Healthcare is seeking an experienced Ruby on Rails Developer to design, build, and manage quality code for their flagship product, Claris Companion. The developer will be responsible for developing full-stack logic, identifying bottlenecks and bugs, collaborating with other teams, and more. The position offers a competitive benefits package, ongoing training, and a salary range of 90k - 115k.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional experience in Ruby on Rails development
• Proficient in Ruby, Rails, Javascript, and RESTful APIs
• Strong understanding of Ruby syntaxes and its nuances
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
• Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful
• Experience in developing and consuming APIs, both internal and external
• Experience with Postgres and Redis
• Ability to work with complex database schemas and optimize database performance
• Experience in writing comprehensive tests using RSpec, Jasmine, and Cucumber
• Familiarity with CoffeeScript and its integration in Rails applications
• Good understanding of server-side templating languages (such as haml)
• Experience with front-end technologies, including JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby on Rails code
• Implement user interface components with server-side logic
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
• Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process
• Collaborate with other team members to resolve issues, and actively engage with the customer support team to promptly address real-world challenges

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of cloud services (like AWS, Heroku) and experience in deploying Rails applications
• Familiarity with development aiding tools such as Bower, Bundler, Rake, etc
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• IOS development experience is a huge plus
