Join Figure, a leading financial technology firm, as a Senior Accountant to oversee loan and corporate accounting functions. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 3+ years of experience in accounting; experience with consumer lending or financial services preferred
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment
Responsibilities
- Perform daily and monthly accounting for loan activity, including originations, payments, interest accruals, servicing fees, charge-offs, and loan sales
- Execute accurate and timely month-end close processes, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, and financial reporting
- Maintain and reconcile loan sub-ledgers and ensure alignment with general ledger and financial statements
- Apply and support accounting policies and procedures for both loan-related and corporate transactions in accordance with GAAP and internal standards
- Prepare documentation to support financial audits, regulatory filings, and internal and external reporting requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including lending operations, compliance, capital markets, and FP&A—to ensure accurate financial data flow and reporting across all areas of the business
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance internal controls, and implement automation or system enhancements to support scalability
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of loan accounting principles, including loan originations, interest accrual, servicing fees, and charge-offs is preferred
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus
