Join a Toronto-based business consulting firm as a Senior Accountant based in the Philippines! This crucial role bridges our local bookkeeping team and Canadian senior accounting team. You will oversee junior bookkeepers, ensure accurate month-end packages, and manage deadlines across multiple client portfolios. Effective communication with internal and client teams is vital. Requirements
- 3β5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, ideally across multiple clients
- Hands-on proficiency in QuickBooks Online (required) and/or Xero
- Working knowledge of US GAAP (preferred) or Canadian ASPE
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage accountability across teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy
- Clear and professional communication skills in English (written and spoken)
- Comfortable working across time zones and in fully remote teams
- No degree or CPA required, but technical competence and a proactive work ethic are essential
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and finalization of month-end close packages, ensuring reconciliations, accruals, classifications, and cut-offs are accurate and complete for audit readiness
- Take ownership of the monthly close calendar, proactively managing timelines and tracking deliverables across ~20β30 client portfolios
- Monitor deadlines and drive accountability across the bookkeeping team, ensuring timely, high-quality submissions
- Communicate effectively with internal teams in the Philippines, China, and Canada, and directly with clients via Slack to resolve issues and streamline workflows
- Coach and guide junior bookkeepers to strengthen their technical accuracy, consistency, and ownership
- Maintain clean, well-structured financial documentation and file systems, following established naming conventions and supporting audit and internal clarity
- Lead and contribute to process improvements and training initiatives, including adoption of new accounting and workflow tools
- Occasionally assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a multi-client, outsourced accounting or BPO environment
- Prior experience working with North American clients
- Familiarity with common SaaS tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, Karbon, etc.)
