Summary
Join Vanta's finance team as a Senior Accountant and play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of our financials and the evolution of our accounting operations. You will own complex areas of our close, such as leases, capitalized software, and accruals, while also reviewing lower-risk areas. Beyond the close, you will help identify inefficiencies, build automation, and implement scalable processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, bridging accounting rigor with operational excellence. This role requires a Bachelorโs degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, 4โ7 years of progressive accounting experience, and a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP. Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CPA track strongly preferred
- 4โ7 years of progressive accounting experience; combination of public accounting and private industry is a plus
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP , particularly lease accounting (ASC 842), foreign currency (ASC 830), payroll-related accounting
- Experience working in a high-growth or fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting business needs
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and comfort working in systems such as NetSuite, or similar ERP platforms
- Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and strong communication skills
- Experience with close management tools, including optimization efforts
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for various accounting areas including but not limited to: Leases - ensure compliance with ASC 842 , including tracking lease schedules, preparing journal entries, and working closely with FP&A and legal teams on lease-related transactions. Payroll - prepare accounting entries collaborating with People Operations, internal payroll team, and third-party payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Review journal entries and reconciliations for various accounting areas including but not limited to: Cash, Expenses, International transactions
- Take on new accounting areas as the business scales
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring all entries are appropriately supported and in line with GAAP
- Prepare documentation and support for internal and external audits
- Assist with implementing and optimizing accounting systems and tools to drive efficiency
- Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, and People teams to support business initiatives and ensure accounting impacts are considered
- Manage close reconciliation tool including identifying best practices, enhancements, and product feature roadmaps
