Summary
Join Aurora Solar's Total Rewards team and play an instrumental role in designing, implementing, and administering comprehensive benefits and leave programs for employees in the US and Canada. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, conduct regular audits, and collaborate with brokers to optimize benefits offerings. Present recommendations to senior leadership, manage employee enrollment, and maintain relationships with external vendors. Serve as the subject matter expert on leave programs and provide case management support to employees and managers. Partner with various departments to improve employee benefits and troubleshoot inquiries. This role requires experience scaling benefits programs, conducting financial analysis, and managing sensitive employee information.
Requirements
- Experience scaling and maintaining benefits programs through platforms such as Rippling and ADP
- Ability to conduct financial analysis on benefits costs and assess the effectiveness of benefits programs using Google survey and spreadsheet tools
- Proven integrity in managing difficult situations and applying company policies and frameworks consistently
- Proven experience working in companies with footprints in multiple states across the U.S. and Canadian provinces
- Ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible way to various stakeholders
- Exposure to benefits in international contexts including Europe and Latin America
Responsibilities
- Successfully implement, design and administer Auroraβs benefits programs including health, wellness, and retirement for employees located in the US and Canada
- Ensure and support compliance with local, state and national benefits laws and requirements
- Support internal and external audits of benefits programs including required state and national filings
- Work with our brokers to obtain market competitive analysis to recommend enhancements to our benefits program and ensure alignment with our Total Rewards philosophy and strategy
- Present recommendations on benefits programs and updates to senior leadership
- Conduct annual enrollment employee education sessions and define the annual enrollment process/timeline
- Manage enrollment activities for newly eligible employees, ongoing participation and routine enrollment changes and transactions, and termination processing
- Manage relationships with external vendors to ensure smooth and efficient benefit program delivery
- Collaborate with various departments internally and external vendors to improve employee benefits and enhance programs
- Partner with the payroll team to ensure the accuracy of deductions related to benefits programs and resolve employee inquiries
- Serve as the subject matter expert regarding questions on all leave and time off programs, including FMLA, ADA, State Leaves, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Parental Leave, PTO, and Sick Time Off
- Provide end-to-end case management and consultative support to employees and managers with Absence Management, Workersβ Compensation, and Employee Experience inquiries while ensuring a strong culture of connection and empathy
- Partner with key stakeholders (Legal, HRBP) on sensitive and complicated LOA matters while adhering to strict privacy and confidentiality requirements
- Ensure that each vendor receives all participant data that is required to support plan administration, and timely funding of plan contributions, claims, and insurance premiums
- Partner with People Operations to troubleshoot benefits-related inquiries and to set up annual enrollment processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Rippling HRIS
- Experience with Sequoia, Benepass, ModernHealth, Kaiser, Fidelity, Canada Life
- Experience with Google Suite of business applications (docs, sheets, slides)
- Experience with AI tools
- SHRM or CBP certification
