Join 1Password as a Senior HR Specialist and play a key role in supporting our growth journey for an effective international HR structure. This hybrid role, based remotely in the UK, will support all HR functions, including HR Business Partnering and HR Operations. Collaborate closely with the EU-based Sr. HRBP and the North American HR team to drive people initiatives, foster strong partnerships, and deliver operational excellence. You will be responsible for managing the full employee lifecycle, ensuring compliance, and creating scalable policies and procedures. This position is critical in shaping our employee experience and ensuring alignment with our organizational goals. The role requires a commitment to operational excellence and the ability to balance creating scalable policies and procedures with ensuring exceptional employee experiences.
Requirements
- Have a minimum of 4 years of experience managing the full employee lifecycle and supporting process improvements, HR policies and project initiatives in a People Generalist or HR Specialist role
- Bring practical knowledge of German, UK, and Dutch HR practices, employment laws, benefits administration, social security systems, and Employer of Record (EOR) solutions
- Thrive in an international scale-up environment where you can bring structure, improve efficiency, and take initiative in navigating ambiguity
- Value and have experience in team-oriented collaboration and project management, contributing effectively to shared goals and initiatives
- Be a self-directed and organized problem solver with the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
- Bring a flexible yet structured approach, are detail-oriented and accurate, and maintain a service-minded mentality to meet goals and deadlines effectively
- Have experience working remotely and collaborating with a globally distributed team across multiple time zones
- Be fluent in English
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor, offering tailored HR guidance and interpreting policies with a human-centric approach, while also refining HR processes to ensure clarity, scalability, and alignment with business goals to support continuous improvement
- Provide coaching and guidance to local employees and leaders
- Ensuring operational and administrative processes while providing expert HR support at all levels. It involves a partnership-driven approach to managing operational touchpoints throughout the employee lifecycle, including preparing employment-related documents, maintaining accurate employee records, facilitating internal changes, and ensuring the delivery of HR services
- Serve as a superuser for HR systems, ensuring the ability to update and generate reports related to EMEA operations, including benefits utilization and other key metrics
- Provide support on matters related to local labor laws, immigration, compensation, and specific employee relations cases across the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, and other regions as needed
- Ensure the consistent application of HR policies and procedures while supporting compliance and driving efficiency in our People processes to enable our growth objectives. Create, update, and maintain global policies with a local lens
- Support the implementation and coordination of HR programs across EMEA locations, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany. Assist in managing international HR initiatives and European projects, with a focus on Employee Experience, Benefits, and Operational Excellence
- Actively partner with HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, and other internal teams to provide operational support and ensure alignment across HR functions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Finance, IT, and Legal, to ensure alignment and seamless execution of HR processes and initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with other EMEA laws and practices, along with expertise in employee relations principles, methods, and best practices
- Proficiency in a second EU language (such as French, Dutch, or German)
- Experience managing payroll cycles and annual compensation reviews
