Summary
Join Calm's Legal team as a remote attorney, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, New York City, or Minneapolis. You will support global business legal needs, focusing on transactional work, including drafting and negotiating agreements. This role requires strong negotiation skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of relevant experience, excellent communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Requirements
- 4+ years of relevant legal experience, blend of in-house or agency experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and take initiative on new opportunities
- A highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Talent for thinking outside of the box in confronting new issues and pursuing novel approaches to old problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with cross-functional teams
- Ability to explain legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to the right details
- High energy, team-oriented and enjoys helping others
- A can-do attitude and ability to efficiently and effectively manage competing projects and priorities, where no job is too big or too small
- Enjoys tackling challenging projects in sometimes new subject area
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a nationally recognized law school
- Must be a member in good standing of a U.S. bar
Responsibilities
- Help manage transactions for Sales and Business Development teams, including commercial deals and strategic partnerships, including review, negotiation and drafting agreements (e.g. sales, BD, vendor, and NDAs) and direct support of complex global deals requiring innovative, deep contracting skills
- Strategize with company executives prior to client negotiations
- Represent company's interests and interface directly with client counsel and negotiating teams
- Structure client transactions to be most advantageous from a legal and business perspective
- Counsel, advise, and consult company executives based on accurate interpretation of contract documents and the legal and risk management issues in a business opportunity
- Stay abreast of legal developments affecting the company, its clients, and industries and synthesize the information to incorporate it into company's transactional practices
- Develop internal guidelines, toolkits, and packaged knowledge on various legal and business issues
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with product and regulatory issues
- Healthcare and international experience
- Experience in Tech/Saas industry
- Experience partnering with Sales & Business development teams
