Summary
Join Cloud Chamber as a Temporary Senior Lighting Artist to contribute to the development of the next BioShock game. You will collaborate with a team of artists to create immersive lighting for gameplay environments and cinematic sequences within the Unreal Engine. Responsibilities include constructing lighting pipelines, collaborating with other artists, creating key art and marketing shots, troubleshooting issues, and supporting art best practices. This temporary role, lasting no more than 12 months, requires 5+ years of real-time lighting experience in AAA games and a working knowledge of Lumen, Sequencer, and Blueprint. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This is a fully remote role based anywhere in the United States.
Requirements
- 5+ years of real-time lighting experience in 3D AAA games, with an ability to generate final lighting and rendering
- Working knowledge of Lumen, Sequencer, and Blueprint
- Experience as a Senior Lighting Artist on one AAA title
- Cinematic and character lighting experience
- Bachelorβs Degree in Art or Digital Media, or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated experience working with modern FPS engines and modern art pipelines
- Must be comfortable taking on responsibility for the development of complex lighting solutions and workflows
- Experience developing high quality lighting under runtime constraints
- Experience working with a team of artists towards a common goal
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
- Able to discuss, support, and advocate for your opinions while being receptive to differing viewpoints

Responsibilities
- Contribute to the construction of the lighting pipeline within the Unreal Engine
- Collaborate with lighting and technical artists in multiple locations to elevate the composition of game environments
- Partner with the animation and cinematics teams to light in-game and pre-rendered cinematics
- Create shot composition and rendering of key art and marketing shots when required
- Collaborate with the Cinematic and VFX teams to solve challenging technical lighting problems
- Troubleshoot issues in Blueprint and find elegant solutions
- Support art best practices and standards within the team
- Contribute to a positive, proactive, and agile work environment that encourages innovation and collaboration
- Work closely with the Lighting Lead to understand and uphold the visual style and direction for lighting
- Contribute to, and help maintain, efficient lighting pipelines and workflows
- Research and share new techniques and technologies related to lighting with the goal of continuous development and improvement
- Work closely with other groups within the art department to achieve cohesive and visually stunning results
- Receive and apply constructive feedback as part of our iterative process effectively while maintaining a positive attitude

Benefits
- This is a fully remote role that may be based anywhere in the United States
- Colorado: $33 and $60 per hour (year if annualized)
- California: $43.25 and $67 per hour (year if annualized)
- New York State (inclusive of New York City): $43.25 and $67 per hour (year if annualized)
- Washington: $33 and $60 per hour (year if annualized)
