Summary

This Training and Development role involves assessing training needs, developing and implementing training programs, monitoring effectiveness, and ensuring compliance. You will manage the training budget, work with vendors, and develop a robust employee onboarding process. The position requires a Bachelor's degree, 10+ years of experience in training (automotive industry preferred), strong communication and leadership skills, and proficiency in training software. The role may be based in Columbia, South Carolina initially, or remotely, but will eventually be located at a Scout Motors corporate location. Relocation may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, HR or a related field
  • 10+ years of proven experience in training preferably in the automotive industry
  • Strong understanding of automotive sales and service processes and methodologies
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in using training software and e-learning platforms
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain healthy cross-functional relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven track record of building a motivated, high-performing team and developing a fun and productive team culture
  • Intuitive ability to navigate organizational complexity and confidently lead strategic, data-driven discussions with top management

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess launch and ongoing training needs through job analysis, career paths, and collaboration across the Commercial Operations team
  • Design and develop training programs, content and materials across the multiple areas of brand, product, customer experience processes, systems, technical and additional areas as deemed important to Scout’s success
  • Implement before launch training programs using a variety of instructional techniques and formats, such as in-person, online and app based
  • Monitor and evaluate training program effectiveness, success, and ROI
  • Continuously update training programs to ensure they remain relevant, engaging and effective. Implement a fast action process to quickly deploy critical training content based upon emerging business needs
  • Work with the Commercial Operations team to address performance gaps and provide targeted training solutions
  • Develop and deploy a robust onboarding process for new employees to ensure a smooth transition into the company and immediate effectiveness in their job role
  • Identify, deploy and maintain an intuitive LMS system that is easy to integrate and update with emerging business needs
  • Lead and collaborate with external training agencies and vendors to deliver specialized training programs
  • Manage the training budget and ensure cost-effective training solutions
  • Ensure all training programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements across retail operations
  • Generate regular reports on training activities and outcomes for senior management

  • Initial base salary range = $150,000.00 - $180,000.00
