Summary

Join Skillsoft as a Sr. Payroll Analyst and play a critical role in managing global payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will perform complex functions in payroll preparation, processing, and reconciliation, focusing on process improvement and timely payments. This role involves implementing a new payroll service provider and collaborating with internal and external partners. You will also be responsible for data entry, verification, and reconciliation, as well as addressing employee payroll queries. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with expertise in multi-state payroll regulations. Reporting to the Payroll Director, this role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to Skillsoft's payroll operations.

Requirements

  • 5 years of related experience along with a Bachelor’s degree required
  • Understand company OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) and align your work accordingly

  • Strong Excel skills and reconciliation skills is required
  • Knowledge of end-to-end payroll operations, process flows and data management is required
  • Flexibility to work across time zones globally is required

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and changing environment

Responsibilities

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations, including US Federal and State wage/hour regulations (such as FLSA) and industry best practices
  • Assess unusual circumstances and using sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques to identify root causes
  • Resolve a wide range of payroll issues creatively and suggesting variations in approach
  • Evaluate information and devise solutions based on limited data and precedent
  • Ability to adapt existing approaches to resolve complex payroll issues sets you apart
  • Exercise evaluation, judgment, and interpretation to select the right course of action
  • While working independently, critical reviews at key points ensure accuracy
  • Proactively enhance relationships and networks with senior internal and external partners who may not be familiar with payroll intricacies
  • Adapt communication style to differing audiences, you often provide expert advice on complex payroll matters
  • Partner with HR team members to coordinate employee compensation updates, new hires, separations, data changes, and approvals
  • Data entry and verification to ensure compliance and data accuracy
  • Review net variances from previous month and reconcile payroll
  • Maintain processes that evidence payroll review and approval procedures to ensure appropriate and accurate payroll for audit
  • Process approved sales commissions and bonus compensation and other variables monthly
  • Download and validate data for payroll processing and highlight discrepancies early in the process
  • Complete quarterly and year-end payroll reconciliation
  • Work with HR and external project team to facilitate the transition and consolidation of non-US payroll service providers
  • Work closely with our service partners and HR to ensure accuracy of data and manage uploads to appropriate regulatory bodies and government departments
  • Deliver a high level of customer service to employees regarding payroll queries
  • Audit global payroll data monthly
  • Configure and implement new payroll functionality in Workday HCM system
  • Provide cross functional support and to the global payroll team
  • Other duties, as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

Workday, OSV, OSC/Vistra experience is an advantage
