Summary
Join Indivisible, a progressive grassroots movement, as an experienced Organizer to build and support local groups in GA or FL. You will organize groups around national priorities, develop group leadership, build state structures, grow the volunteer base, and execute strategic plans. This role requires strong organizing experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects. The position offers a competitive salary ($59,400-$76,150), a robust benefits package including full medical/dental/vision/life coverage, a professional development stipend, and an employer-matched 401(k) plan. Up to 20% travel is expected. This is not an entry-level position.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of what power is, how to build it, and how pressure campaigns work
- At least 2-3 years/cycles of demonstrated experience in community, labor, movement, or electoral organizing
- Experience developing and implementing field plans, tracking and assessing progress, and adapting as needed
- Ability to train activists in skill development, power-building, and strategic planning
- Ability to tackle problems with actionable plans, generate smart, innovative approaches, not afraid to think outside of the box
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Experience building communication structures within turf
- Relentlessly results-oriented; strong track record of meeting or exceeding goals
- Thrives as a team player and collaborator, particularly when problem-solving cross-team issues, thinking through lessons learned, and planning and executing departmental projects
- Ability to juggle multiple streams of work, prioritize, and problem-solve in complex and nuanced situations
- Comfort operating in complex and fluid environments, responding innovatively and rapidly to emerging opportunities or concerns
- Demonstrated ability to thrive year-round in a fast-paced, dynamic grassroots campaign environment while managing a heavy workload
- Strong people skills; effective communicator both verbally and in written communications
- An exceptional team player; exemplifies a work style that is flexible, respectful, collaborative, and nimble
- Can build trust, confidence, and followership of diverse range of staff, volunteers, field partners - across race, gender, and other identities
- Understanding of race, gender, sexuality and other aspects of identity, and their intersections, and how that plays out in the work
- Demonstrates self-awareness of their own multiple group identities and their attendant dynamics, and can adapt approach as needed
- Ability to build strong relationships and trust across race, gender, class, and other group identities, both internally and externally
- Experience organizing in communities of color and/or building multiracial organizing efforts and prior training in anti-oppression, equity and inclusion
Responsibilities
- Organize groups in your turf around Indivisible’s national priorities and campaigns
- Create strong, trusted relationships with group leaders and activists
- Provide the guidance, feedback, structure, and support they need to organize effectively and develop as leaders
- Develop stronger statewide coordination among groups and activists and build strong, clear communication structures within your turf
- Coach groups and members on Indivisible’s theory of change and knowledge resources, and equip them with the tools they need to execute local strategic actions and participate in national Days of Action
- Identify, recruit, and develop new group leaders and volunteers to grow our reach and ability to organize at scale
- Develop and execute strategic turf plans to hit short term campaign and long term power building goals
- Report, track, and record real time data
- Proactively engage in critical, data-driven analysis to unearth lessons learned and best practices to strengthen our organizing and campaigns
- Take part in department projects and special initiatives to build our structure and long term capacity
- Collaborate effectively with team members and leadership to coordinate work internally, surface insights, provide feedback and thought partnership to peers, and help foster a team culture of learning and mutual support
- Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inspiring organizational culture for staff to excel in, and provide ongoing opportunities for team members to lead and grow
