Summary
Join CD PROJEKT RED as a Senior Technical Artist to work on Project Orion, the next game after Cyberpunk 2077. You will contribute to the research and development of in-house tools, establish processes within Unreal Engine 5, and collaborate with various teams to achieve creative and technical goals. Daily responsibilities include developing tools and processes, researching and integrating new features in Unreal Engine 5, ensuring high-quality asset integration, identifying and addressing bottlenecks, writing optimized code, and providing documentation and training. You will also mentor junior technical artists. This fully remote position (USA or Canada) requires at least 5 years of professional experience in a technical art role within the games industry and excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine 5. Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional experience in a technical art role within the games industry
- Excellent knowledge of Unreal Engine 5
- Demonstrable experience using and developing tools that help aid the Unreal content creation process (Blueprints, PCG, Editor Utility Widgets, Editor Scripts, Geometry Scripting, and Slate Editor Tools)
- Familiarity with procedural content systems
- Experience in tool development and automation using C++ and/or Python
- Strong understanding of content performance/memory optimization process and procedures
- Experience working within content creation software (Blender, Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter)
- Ability to think creatively and strategically to overcome complex technical challenges and drive innovation in technology
- Demonstrated commitment to taking ownership, setting goals, exchanging knowledge and driving initiatives independently
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with art directors, engineers, content designers, and artists to achieve the project's creative and technical goals
- Develop tools and processes that enhance Unreal Engine 5 focusing on scalability, efficiency, and ease of use
- Researching and integrating new features in Unreal Engine 5
- Ensure high-quality asset integration while maintaining performance and memory efficiency
- Identify and address bottlenecks in the art workflows ensuring a smooth development process
- Write high-quality code that is optimized, bug-free, and aligned with project goals
- Documentation, training, and guidance for development teams
- Mentoring and guiding technical artists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
Preferred Qualifications
- Solid understanding of GPU workflows (lighting, rendering, compute shaders), especially using Unreal Engine 5
- Experience in network automation, batching, and packaged environment setups
