Summary

The job is for a Senior Technical Author in a global provider of spatial data management software. The role involves leading a team to produce and deliver documentation for web, desktop, and mobile applications. Requirements include significant experience creating and managing documentation, excellent written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of HTML and CSS, and experience using content management tools like MadCap Flare.

Requirements

• Significant experience creating and managing documentation
• Excellent knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience using content management and publishing tools such as MadCap Flare
• Experience working within version control (e.g. git)
• Experience managing documentation as “code”
• Proven experience estimating and scoping product documentation projects
• Able to analyse software products technically, quickly understanding how to install, configure and operate complex systems

Responsibilities

• Leading a small team in the production and delivery of documentation
• Contributing to a cross functional team of developers, testers, and product managers to deliver documentation for enhancements and new features
• Working within agile processes for short cycle, fast-paced deliveries
• Producing user guides, installation guides, tutorials, training and any other user documentation required, in liaison with Product Managers and Technical Leads
• Continuously improving documentation for improved usability and customer experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using, or keen interest in, Geospatial tools and systems
• Experience working within Agile Development methodologies, processes, and tools (Jira/Confluence)
• Familiarity with other common programming languages (SQL, python, JSON and similar)
• Experience creating diagrams and visuals for processes
• Experience improving documentation for usability and accessibility
