Join Marqeta as a Senior Technical Program Manager and lead large-scale initiatives across our product and technology organizations. You will drive and report on a portfolio of transformational programs, modernizing Marqeta’s online services. Responsibilities include overseeing engineering work, driving resilience in services, and accelerating infrastructure modernization. You will partner with leadership, define communication plans, manage risks, and use data to drive improvements. This role offers flexible remote work options within Ontario or British Columbia, Canada. Requirements
- 5+ years experience managing technical programs or projects involving the engineering, delivery, and operations of online services
- Proficient in agile software development practices
- Familiarity with modern cloud-based services technologies
- Understanding of modern SSDLC (Secure Software Development Life Cycle) practices including OWASP top 10 defense
- Knowledge of fundamental modern practices for ongoing delivery of high-availability online services
- 5+ years of technical program management experience
- Strong communicator, able to work independently across time zones
- Skilled at navigating ambiguity and seeing the big picture to drive success
- Confident in working with diverse teams, including executive sponsors
- Proven track record of delivering complex, cross-functional projects
- Pragmatic problem-solver, resourceful, and action-oriented
- Change agent with a focus on progress over perfection
- 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Data & AI/ML: experience in large-scale data services, including technologies such as Airflow, Snowflake, Kafka and Change Data capture platforms
- Disaster Recovery: experience in fundamental practices including DR planning, DR playbooks, DR testing, and resilience investments
- Infrastructure: experience and expertise in S-SDLC, modern service engineering & CI/CD practices and technologies, and ongoing service operation practices
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent technical program management driving a portfolio of technical programs and projects to deliver and evolve Marqeta’s online services
- Particular impacts in one or more of the following areas: Data & AI/ML: overseeing the engineering work to evolve our constellation of data platform services keeping them secure, compliant, reliable, scalable and cost-efficient
- Disaster Recovery: driving dozens of engineering teams to make our services resilient and rapidly recoverable following the highest risk scenarios
- Infrastructure: accelerating the modernization of Marqeta’s services’ shared compute infrastructure, engineering pipelines, observability & monitoring, data center evolution and more
- Develop and leverage strong partnerships for transformation while remaining agile to respond to changing business needs
- Proactively work with key stakeholders to identify the highest priority Initiatives
- Define and execute communication plans to report each program across multiple stakeholders in Marqeta including executive-ready reporting
- Manage risks, schedules, and blockers, facilitating problem-solving for the team
- Validate assumptions, define success metrics, and use data to drive strategic improvements
- Suggest improvements to TPM standards to enhance PMO service quality
- Use scrum and agile practices to boost initiative delivery across engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in electronic payments and accounting systems
- 2+ years of software engineering experience or equivalent training
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a STEM degree
- Jira expertise
- Project management (PMP) certification
