Senior Technical Program Manager

Summary

Join Sumo Logic as a Senior Technical Program Manager and lead cross-functional teams in overseeing large programs with multiple concurrent projects. Guide technical programs from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with company goals. Collaborate with engineering, product management, and design teams to define project objectives and deliverables. Maintain detailed project plans and timelines, and mitigate risks impacting project delivery. Drive Agile development processes and guide the team on best practices for project meetings. Report program status to senior leadership. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience in technical program management, proficiency in JIRA administration, and a strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of experience in technical program management or project management, preferably in a SaaS or technology-driven environment
• Proficient in JIRA administration, workflow management, schema updates, and general hygiene
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and project management best practices
• Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects and drive them to successful delivery
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience working with engineering teams and understanding of software architecture, development tools, and technologies
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex challenges and provide actionable solutions
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Guide technical programs and projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with company goals and priorities
• Continuously look for ways to improve and streamline processes and overall team collaboration within the Product Development team
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and design, to define clear project objectives, requirements, and deliverables
• Work with engineering and product to maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and roadmaps to track progress and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope
• Identify and mitigate risks and obstacles that could impact project delivery, ensuring timely resolution through effective communication and problem-solving
• Drive the execution of Agile development processes, working closely with engineering teams to ensure iterative progress
• Guide the team on best practices for regular project meetings, including stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, to ensure clear communication and transparency across teams
• Manage project dependencies, including coordinating with other teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and resource allocation
• Report on program status, including key milestones, risks, and issues, to senior leadership and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a SaaS company or with cloud-based technologies
• Familiarity with DevOps practices and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Experience working with teams across multiple timezones
• Exposure to managing international or distributed teams
• Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and analytics
• PMP, CSM, or other relevant certifications are a plus
