Senior Technical Program Manager

Summary

Join Toast, a company building a restaurant platform, as a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to enhance the efficiency and execution of complex R&D initiatives. You will shape program strategies, establish best practices, and deliver high-impact projects. This role focuses on providing technical program management support for complex restaurant delivery initiatives, working with external partners. The position requires a blend of strategic vision, technical expertise, and hands-on program management. Future responsibilities may expand to other Toast businesses. Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in technical program management and product management, with a proven record of managing and delivering complex cross-functional programs in a tech-driven environment
• Deep background in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and strong technical fluency
• Solid experience with 3rd-party partner management/engagement and building strong partnerships
• Demonstrated ability to build strategic frameworks and standardize processes for high-impact delivery across multiple programs
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with a history of effectively collaborating with technical and non-technical partners
• Results-oriented with a strategic mindset; proven ability to drive multiple programs to successful completion with a sense of urgency
• Strong problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to make data-driven decisions and communicate insights clearly
• Adaptable, iterative, and feedback-driven; embraces challenges as learning opportunities for continuous improvement
• Self-starter who thrives both independently and as a cornerstone of a high-performing team

Responsibilities

• Drive execution for major cross-functional programs, ensuring timely, high-quality delivery. Employ advanced forecasting, risk management, and intake strategies to mitigate potential delays and dependencies
• Quickly understand the scope, requirements, and risks associated with new and existing programs. Be ready to dive deep into technical and operational details, rapidly get up to speed, and identify and mitigate potential risks to ensure smooth program execution; all while being able to keep the big picture in mind
• Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders across R&D, Product, and Engineering, collaborating on roadmap planning and resource allocation to ensure strategic alignment and operational efficiency
• Able to adapt to change and iterate quickly; working in complex and ambiguous situations
• Leverage your technical fluency to guide teams, establishing best practices and fostering continuous improvement. Encourage innovation within program teams by setting technical fluency standards and facilitating professional growth

• The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions, if eligible), benefits, and equity (if eligible)
• Pay Range$129,000 — $206,000 USD
