Software Engineer (Mid Level)

Summary

Join Vonage's growing Engineering team as a backend engineer contributing to their Verify API platform. You will design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Go, Java, or Kotlin within a microservices architecture. Responsibilities include implementing effective testing strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to code reviews and documentation. The ideal candidate possesses strong software engineering skills, experience with multi-threaded architectures and cloud technologies (AWS preferred), and a commitment to continuous improvement. Requirements

• Excellent software engineering skills in Go, Java or Kotlin for backend services
• Work closely with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to ensure seamless integration of new features and services with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• A strong focus on testing
• An understanding of Object Oriented Design and standard design patterns
• Strong experience of multi-threaded, 3-tier architectures, web services, caching, and dealing with event-driven pipelines
• Willingness to learn and use different technologies/programming languages
• First hand knowledge of Continuous Deployment tools and methodologies
• Experience working with public cloud
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Practical experience of deploying code in a modern programming environment using tools such as Docker, Helm and Kubernetes

• Estimate the effort required to develop and deliver new product features
• Implement and execute effective testing strategies, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests, to ensure software quality and reliability
• Design and develop approaches to measure, evaluate and improve service quality
• Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback to peers, and actively contribute to maintaining a high standard of code quality and development practices
• Contribute to the documentation of the components, design patterns, and the design system to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging frontend technologies, and share knowledge and expertise with the development team to continuously improve our development processes and standards
