Staff Accountant

Summary

The job is for a Staff Accountant who will work closely with the Finance Director to manage finances in the accounting department. The position involves daily office accounting tasks, reconciling bank accounts, maintaining GL schedules, payroll processing, and supporting various accounting activities.

Requirements

• Demonstrated knowledge of Accounting Principles through college education and/ or equivalent work experience
• At least 3 years of full charge accounting experience
• Accrual based accounting experience
• Can maintain schedules for audit/ closing with proper oversight/ training
• Strong day to day bookkeeping experience
• Keen attention to detail
• System and process improvement experience
• Technology and tools competency
• Advanced excel experience
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Support daily office accounting needs: opening and forwarding accounting related mail, escalating on site accounting issues, run reports/ provide files/ records as requested
• Reconcile Bank and Credit Card Accounts
• Maintain GL supporting schedules, as requested
• Support closing activities as assigned
• Payroll processing
• Assist Audit Process by ensuring files are easily accessible and properly supported
• Timesheet verification/accuracy support
• Support/Back up Accounts Payable Process
• Support gathering and verification of documents needed for billing/ invoicing i.e., bills, contracts, timesheets, payroll reports, supporting schedules, etc
• Ensure that the accounting files (paper and digital) are organized

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of Payroll systems, QBO, and Bill.com preferred
