Summary

Join Khan Academy as their Strategy & Business Operations Lead, reporting directly to the CFO. This critical role drives strategic alignment and operational excellence across the organization. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership, the CEO, and the Board to ensure effective planning and execution. This position blends strategy, operations, and cross-functional teamwork, demanding a blend of big-picture vision and tactical execution. The ideal candidate will possess strong strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder management skills. You will provide thought partnership to the SLT, lead the annual planning process, strengthen organizational systems, monitor progress on OKRs, shape operational cadence, and partner with the CEO and Board Chair. This role also includes leading ad-hoc strategic projects.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience, with at least 5+ years in strategic planning, business operations, or related fields (e.g., consulting, bizops) and 2+ years of experience managing teams
  • A strong track record of driving cross-functional initiatives and aligning stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to turn insights into action
  • Comfort working autonomously and proactively owning projects from start to finish
  • A collaborative, low-ego attitude and a willingness to dive into strategic and tactical work
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships with professionalism and sound judgment
  • High discretion when handling confidential materials and conversations

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought partnership to the SLT on organizational, programmatic, and operational strategy
  • Lead and continuously improve our annual planning process, ensuring clarity of goals and cross-functional alignment
  • Strengthen organizational systems and processes for goal-setting, decision-making, and accountability
  • Monitor progress on org-wide OKRs and identify risks or areas that need support
  • Shape the SLT’s operational cadence, ensuring timely decision-making and strategic focus
  • Partner with the CEO and Board Chair to coordinate board meetings, prepare materials, and track follow-ups
  • Lead ad-hoc strategic projects related to growth and organizational effectiveness
