Structural Analyst

Summary

Responsibilities include applying structural design and analysis practices, modeling gas dynamics and heat transfer, assisting with technical oversight, verifying system compliance, and working independently within a small team. The role requires a deep understanding of LS-DYNA, experience with explicit and implicit solvers, and experience analyzing various problems. US citizenship and the ability to obtain a DOD SECRET clearance are mandatory. Requirements

• Deep understanding of LS-DYNA including element formulations, material models, contact types and algorithm, and meshing methodologies
• Experience with running both the explicit and implicit LS-DYNA solver
• Experience analyzing problems that involve ductile failure, strain rate dependency, airbag modeling , impact, drop tests, and/or large deformations
• Experience with setting up and post processing analyses using LS Pre/Post
• Experience with material testing and material model development for LS-DYNA including failure criterion
• Desire and ability to conduct internal LS-Dyna analysis trainings, and act as SME
• Must be a U.S Citizen and able to obtain a DOD SECRET clearance

Responsibilities

• Utilizing theories of physics (classical mechanics, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism) to support design, development, and final verification across a variety of aerospace development programs
• Applying structural design and structural analysis practices to support development from conceptual design phases through to released engineering drawings and stress analysis reports, support test planning, and prepare documentation
• Modeling pyrotechnic & pneumatic gas dynamics, multi-body kinematics, and heat-transfer problems
• Assist with program-level technical oversight to ensure the end product meets all applicable requirements
• Verifies and documents system compliance to requirements
• Working independently upon a small, fast moving team where excellent organization, collaboration, and communication skills will be essential parts of the job
