Summary
Join Alliance for Justice's 10-week paid summer internship program! This fully remote internship offers a $8,000 stipend and flexible start dates between May and August. Interns will contribute to public education, grassroots organizing, research, and communication efforts focusing on judicial selection, access to justice, and nonprofit advocacy. The program welcomes interns with partial or full third-party funding. Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to social justice. Students receiving academic credit for internships are not eligible.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with online search tools (Google, Westlaw, etc.)
- Experience with Microsoft office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.)
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice, civil rights, and public interest issues
Responsibilities
- Draft advocacy and organizing materials
- Track member activities and prepare member spotlight articles
- Research the background of judicial nominees
- Prepare blog posts, fact sheets, and other collateral materials
- Prepare grant proposals and develop funder prospect lists
- Assist in the coordination and staffing of outreach, press conferences, and AFJ special events and fundraisers
- Attend coalition meetings, congressional hearings, issue briefings, and conference calls
- Help maintain AFJβs contact lists and social media networks
- Provide support to staff in the form of administrative and other research tasks as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Campus or community organizing experience or experience working on social justice issues
- Experience using online media in a professional setting
- Knowledge of HTML, web/graphic design, and EveryAction constituent management system
