Summary

Join the UNICC Platform Operations Unit as a Linux Systems Administrator for a 6-month contract (with potential extension) based in Valencia, Spain, or remotely within the CET timezone. This role focuses on operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux systems, services, and applications. Responsibilities include planning and development, proactive environment management, application deployment, and service optimization. The position requires a minimum of 4 years of Linux systems administration experience and expertise in various tools and technologies. The successful candidate will possess strong communication and problem-solving skills and be comfortable working in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of Linux systems administration, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools
  • Experience using Red Hat Satellite, or an equivalent tool, to centrally manage servers in an enterprise environment
  • Experience with patching, updating and bug remediation for Linux OS and third-party applications
  • Bash Scripting
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation and presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust to changing priorities
  • Must assist, guide, and share information with technical and non-technical personnel
  • Must be able to work well within the team and others in a work environment

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux systems within an enterprise-server environment
  • Maintain best practices and procedures for patch management, bug fixes, and operating systems upgrades
  • Identify areas of enhancement and deploy automated processes to minimize human intervention
  • Perform root cause analysis to troubleshoot system errors and client system issues
  • Define and implement security best practices and hardening of the Linux Server and related technologies
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Windows and Active Directory Operating System
  • Knowledge of Virtualization platform such as VMWare, Hyper-V
  • Scripting expertise and knowledgeable on automation tools
  • Experience or basic knowledge of Incident Management, Problem Management, Service Request Fulfillment support
