Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in public practice or business services
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations
  • Experience using Xero for bookkeeping and financial reporting

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Australian accounting standards
  • Compile and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data for clients
  • Oversee month-end reporting processes, including reconciliations and adjustments
  • Prepare and review tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, and trusts
  • Ensure compliance with GST, BAS, payroll tax, and other relevant tax obligations
  • Handle email communication with clients regarding tax queries and information requirements
  • Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) on tax matters
  • Stay current with changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations
  • Assist with ASIC company statement reports
  • Prepare and lodge various statutory returns and compliance documents
  • Oversee and manage bookkeeping tasks using Xero, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial records
  • Reconcile bank accounts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are recorded accurately

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
