Summary

The job is for a Technical Product Owner with a focus on API development and connectivity solutions. The role involves managing the API product lifecycle, collaborating with stakeholders, developing an API strategy, planning the roadmap, working closely with cross-functional teams, designing and documenting APIs, ensuring quality standards, managing risks, ensuring compliance and security, gathering user feedback, providing training and support, and some travel to HQ for team or company events. The required experience includes a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience), 4 years of proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or similar role, strong understanding of API design principles, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and other relevant protocols, hands-on experience with API management platforms and tools, familiarity with cloud platforms and containerization technologies, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Proven experience (4 years) as a Technical Product Owner or similar role, with a focus on API development and connectivity solutions
  • Strong understanding of API design principles, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and other relevant protocols
  • Hands-on experience with API management platforms (e.g., Swagger, Postman, Apigee) and API development tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the API product lifecycle from inception through implementation and maintenance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into clear, actionable user stories and technical specifications
  • Develop and execute a cohesive API strategy aligned with business goals and technical capabilities
  • Create and maintain the API roadmap, prioritizing features and enhancements based on business value and technical feasibility
  • Work closely with development teams, architects, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and quality delivery of API solutions
  • Define API interfaces, protocols, and standards. Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation for developers and end-users
  • Establish and enforce quality standards for APIs through testing strategies, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identify potential risks and dependencies related to API development and proactively mitigate them
  • Ensure APIs adhere to industry standards, compliance requirements, and security best practices
  • Gather user feedback, analyze usage patterns, and iterate on API features to optimize performance and user experience
  • Provide training and support to internal teams and external developers using our APIs
