Underwriting Specialist - Complex Risk

Summary

Join Zensurance's growing Underwriting team as a commercial underwriter specializing in snow removal and roofing contractors. This role offers the opportunity to build and manage a book of business, focusing on hard-to-place risks. You will collaborate with brokers, portfolio underwriters, and the analytics team to expand insurance offerings. Responsibilities include underwriting and managing a portfolio of snow removal and roofing contractors, meeting premium targets, and contributing to operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial underwriting with a specialization in snow removal and/or roofing risks.

Requirements

• 10+ years of commercial underwriting experience specializing in snow removal and/or roofing risks
• Experience working with an MGA or program specific division of an Insurance Company
• Ability to build relationships both with markets and brokers
• Proven track record of achieving premium and bind ratio targets
• Ability to utilize collaboration skills while taking ownership of projects

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage a book consisting of snow removal and roofing contractors
• Meet premium and bind ratio targets while maintaining a disciplined underwriting approach
• Contribute to operational efficiency, ensuring streamlined processes and data-driven decision-making
• Collaborate with leadership to shape the growth and profitability strategy for the new program
• Provide input on pricing strategy to ensure market competitiveness
• Collaborate on underwriting guidelines, wordings, endorsements, extensions, and exclusions based on appetite expansions, customer demand, and evolving offerings in the marketplace
• Develop and strengthen relationships with Zensurance brokers, acting as a trusted partner in the marketplace
• Other duties as assigned
