Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of proven sales leadership in account management, including 5+ years managing key national and regional retail accounts (Grocery, Natural, Mass, Club, etc.)
- A charismatic leader who inspires and motivates diverse teams in dynamic environments
- Independent self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced organization while remaining a collaborative team player
- Deep experience in Grocery and at least one other key retail channel (Club, Mass, Natural/Specialty, etc.)
- Background in both large and small brand companies, with a strong understanding of trade management, category management, and shopper marketing
- Strong analytical skills, comfortable working with industry data sources and translating insights into actionable strategies
- Experience with multiple routes to market (DSD, KeHE, Direct, etc.) and retail promotional planning
- Excellent negotiation and presentation skills, with a track record of successful joint business planning
- Proficient in MS365, leveraging technology for strategic planning and execution
- A doer with a strong sense of urgency and a positive attitude, ready to drive results
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the Hint National HQ Account team and brokers, driving sales and execution across key national and regional retailers, including grocery and specialty chains
- Build and manage strong relationships with key accounts, developing and executing account strategies—including promotional and display plans—to achieve brand, volume, and KPI objectives
- Manage all trade spending to ensure efficiency and alignment with customer and broker goals while overseeing broker, beverage distributor, and broadline wholesaler relationships
- Leverage data and insights to conduct analyses and develop compelling presentations that drive increased feature and display activity, expand distribution, optimize shelf positioning, and grow market share
- Execute customer development strategies as identified by the SVP, Sales – Retail, maintaining regular communication on account progress, pricing, promotional activity, display programs, annual resets, and market challenges
- Partner with field sales teams to establish and uphold execution standards for key selling and display events, ensuring in-store excellence
- Apply category management expertise to maximize distribution, shelf presence, cold box visibility, feature ad support, and display impact within all assigned accounts
- Collaborate with Marketing to develop and implement shopper marketing plans with key retailers
- Monitor and analyze distributor and market data, including SPINS/IRI performance, to provide strategic insights and reporting for senior management
- Stay ahead of market trends by understanding the competitive landscape and identifying new opportunities for in-store execution, pricing, and product placement
- Dedicate 80% of time to selling and managing customers, distributors, brokers, and field sales communications—working from the office or traveling for key meetings
- Spend 20% of time in retail accounts with the Hint team, brokers, and distributors to assess execution, share best practices, and identify growth opportunities
- Travel as needed via car, train, subway, taxi, or air to maintain strong customer relationships and drive business success
