Summary

Join Horace Mann as the VP P&C National Product Manager, responsible for developing and executing a nationwide personal lines product strategy. The position requires extensive experience in P&C product management and leadership in a matrix environment. A bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with an MBA and CPCU designation preferred.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or a related field
  • 15+ years in P&C product management, underwriting, risk management, or product development with a national or super-regional carrier
  • Leadership experience in a matrix environment
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and drive alignment
  • Deep knowledge of competitive and regulatory trends in P&C insurance
  • Experience in vendor evaluation and cost-benefit analysis

Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee national product strategies for auto and property insurance
  • Ensure strategies align with corporate goals and industry best practices
  • Monitor and adjust strategies based on competitive landscape and financial performance
  • Work closely with State Management, Underwriting, Regulatory, Claims, IT, and Finance to ensure product success
  • Engage with Distribution Leadership to identify growth opportunities and market expansion potential
  • Direct the introduction of new P&C products into complementary market segments
  • Lead execution of key initiatives to improve financial performance of auto and property lines
  • Perform competitive analyses to identify product innovation opportunities
  • Assess market conditions, regulatory trends, and emerging risks that could impact product strategies
  • Act as a business lead to communicate detailed requirements to IT and other teams
  • Drive speed-to-market initiatives for new product features and enhancements
  • Oversee vendor evaluations and cost-benefit analyses for potential solutions
  • Regularly analyze financial performance vs. expectations for both auto and property products
  • Ensure continuous improvement in product competitiveness and profitability
  • Lead post-implementation reviews to measure actual results against expectations

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA
  • CPCU designation
  • Some experience in commercial vehicle and property insurance
