Summary
Join HomeLight as an Escrow Accountant and manage reconciliations for escrow accounts, assisting in cleanup and catch-up, managing daily exceptions, coaching teams on best accounting practices, and alerting management to audit red flags. You will maintain daily 3-way reconciliation for all Escrow accounts, perform weekly and monthly accounting duties, review outstanding escrow checks, assist with the month-end close process, and assist with Escrow Audit Reporting. This role is based in the Philippines with a work-from-home setup following a US Central Time schedule. Requirements
- College degree or equivalent experience of at least 1-2 years in a finance/accounting role
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, etc)
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Experience with inter-company transactions
- Must bet willing to work from Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm US CST hours
Responsibilities
- Manage reconciliations for escrow accounts
- Assist in cleanup & catch-up for the escrow accounts
- Manage and clear daily exceptions
- Coach our teams on best accounting practices
- Alert management to any audit red flags
- Maintain daily 3-way reconciliation for all Escrow accounts
- Weekly and monthly accounting duties such as but not limited to, ensuring a timely receipt of escrow funds, monitoring individual guaranty files and escrow bank accounts, preparing βshorts and oversβ and any escrow loss request funds internal transfers
- Monthly review of outstanding escrow checks over 60 and 90 days old. Communication with closing teams and clients to ensure checks are cleared and disposition of funds are finalized
- Assist with timely month end close process; bank account & escrow account reconciliations; balance sheet account reconciliations, prepaid and reimbursed expense account reconciliations; write-off of cancelled file costs
- Assist with Escrow Audit Reporting such as coordination with outside auditors and Corporate Finance
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work experience of 1-2 years working for a National Title Insurance company or the mortgage banking and loan industry
- Familiarity with Title industry software such as Qualia, SoftPro or ResWare
