Summary

The job is for a Wild Alaskan Accountant in a fully-remote company that delivers sustainable seafood. The accountant will manage vendor setup, process invoices, resolve disputes, maintain records, conduct reconciliations, prepare monthly accounting entries, provide support during audits, onboard new users to the expense reimbursement platform, attend team meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or economics or equivalent professional experience
  • 2+ years of related accounting experience
  • Understanding of accounting principles and knowledge of accounting functions (accounts payables, accounts receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc.)
  • Excellent attention to detail, impeccable accuracy, and strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with at least one accounting platform (Quickbooks, NetSuite, SAP, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate with teammates
  • Proven ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced and constantly changing environment
  • Spreadsheet skills: pivot tables, conditional aggregation, summary statistics, advanced visualization and reporting (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Manage the new vendor setup process, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Process a large number of vendor invoices and credit card transactions
  • Review vendor invoices against purchase orders for accuracy of quantity, unit price, terms of payment, and other charges
  • Act as a point of contact for dispute resolution, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to address and resolve invoicing issues
  • Respond to vendor inquiries, including credit reference requests
  • Maintain contract management tracking and digital record-keeping
  • Conduct regular account reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial transactions
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation in accordance with company policy and accounting best practices
  • Monitor and code daily bank transactions
  • Reconcile bank and credit card accounts
  • Prepare monthly accounting entries for various business transactions, including inventory, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, and leases
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting schedules; maintaining all in an audit-ready fashion
  • Provide support during audits, ensuring all relevant AP documentation is readily available and in compliance with company policies
  • Monitor and process mail sent to Wild Alaskan’s scanning service
  • Onboard new users to the expense reimbursement platform and process expense reimbursement requests
  • Attend regular team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses as requested

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in eCommerce
  • Prior accounts payable experience
  • Prior experience as part of a remote-first company
