Summary
Join Newsela as a Manager, Business Operations on the Product Operations and Development Team. Reporting to the Senior Director, you will be responsible for creating and managing efficient operational processes, frameworks, and tools. You will lead process standardization, business operations strategy, budget management, and project execution. This role involves managing a team, ensuring alignment between operational processes and business goals, and partnering with cross-functional teams. You will drive process improvement, manage projects, and lead team development. The position requires 5+ years of operational experience and strong analytical and communication skills. Compensation includes a salary of $90,000-$100,000, stock options, and benefits.
Requirements
- 5+ years operational experience
- Strong planning, organization, communication, and quantitative analysis skills. Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Gsuite and Google Sheets
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and optimize processes and operational workflows that improve efficiency across Product and Content teams
- Craft, edit, and own team KRs, goals, and KPIs towards expected outcomes
- Manage design, data analysis, and recommendations for Content Production team experiments and retros
- Manage the Content budget in collaboration with Finance and lead the annual production budget review and planning for Content
- Own and operate a team budget to drive decisions and strategically allocate resources
- Standardize project management best practices to drive consistency across teams
- Independently manage major, high-impact cross-functional projects; lead alignment conversations across key stakeholders including Content, Product, Tech, Marketing, Customer Success, and Sales
- Oversee strategic project execution, tracking key milestones, deliverables, and outcomes
- Build, edit, and present decks on key initiatives including Content Production Team outputs, Assessment Suite Performance, and Custom Content Creation
- Create and own documentation aligning key stakeholders on high-impact decisions
- Drive cross-functional action to ensure quality outputs
- Be accountable for managing budget tasks for Content team for each Sprint
- Initiate and facilitate ROI discussions on top Content projects with leadership
- Manage and coach a growing team of operations managers and project managers. Includes hiring, mentoring, and coaching team development
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
- Lead training, department-level presentations and enablement sessions, and provide feedback on peers' work
