Campaign Organizer

Summary

The Campaign Organizer is a remote position within Indiana for the Beyond Coal Campaign at Sierra Club. The role involves organizing campaigns to address climate disruption, transform the energy economy, protect communities from pollution, ensure access to the outdoors for all, and protect lands, water, and wildlife.

Requirements

• Experience as an organizer and/or community organizing and/or demonstrated ability in onboard, training, and support volunteers
• A working understanding of quantitative data and qualitative data
• Experience using and training on a variety of in person and online/virtual tools
• Demonstrated leadership experience working within a team structure

Responsibilities

• Participates in the creation of a regional strategy while leading a specific campaign
• Collaborates with volunteers to implement components of an overarching strategic plan for Sierra Club’s priorities in the assigned states or region
• Identifies and recruits potential volunteers and activists, matches volunteers to their areas of interest, and increases volunteer and activist participation within the Chapter structure
• Coordinates with coalition partners and outside interest groups to plan volunteer activities supporting Sierra Club’s priorities
• In coordination with staff and volunteers, represents Sierra Club priorities to public officials, partner organizations, and to the media
• Builds, maintains, and participates on teams to advance states level specific campaign work and Chapter organization building

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of environmental and energy issues, and either expertise or an ability to develop expertise in region energy, climate justice, and/or conservation areas
• Demonstrates the ability to create rapport and inspire trust

Benefits

• The starting salary range for this position is $60,000-$68,000 annually depending on salary region
