Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s or Masterโ€™s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CFD modeling and simulation
  • Advanced proficiency in ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar CFD software
  • Strong understanding of turbulence models, multiphase flows, and heat/mass transfer
  • Experience in 3D modeling using CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Autodesk Inventor
  • Proven ability to analyze complex fluid dynamics problems and propose innovative solutions
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information clearly
  • Experience in the renewable energy or carbon capture industry
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems and large-scale airflow systems
  • Knowledge of materials science and its application in DAC systems
  • Experience with Python, MATLAB, or other programming languages for data analysis and automation of simulation tasks

Responsibilities

  • Conduct CFD simulations to model and optimize airflow patterns between DAC units and within air contactors
  • Utilize advanced turbulence models, multiphase flow analysis, and heat/mass transfer simulations to improve system performance
  • Design and develop 3D models of DAC components and systems using CAD software
  • Perform fluid-structure interaction analysis to ensure the integrity and efficiency of DAC units
  • Assess various design configurations to determine the most efficient airflow paths and recommend improvements
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical engineers, process engineers, and environmental scientists, to develop integrated solutions
  • Validate CFD models through experimental data and iterate designs accordingly
  • Document simulation results, design iterations, and technical findings in detailed reports
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in CFD, airflow optimization, and direct air capture technologies
