Summary
Join our team as a Cloud FinOps SME and bring expertise to our cloud cost management. As a trusted advisor, you will drive cost optimization, enhance financial visibility, and guide data-driven cloud usage decisions. Collaborate across departments, aligning cloud spending with business objectives. Lead the development and implementation of FinOps practices across multi-cloud environments, optimizing cloud usage and reducing waste. Provide insightful reporting on cloud spending, forecasting, budgeting, and risk management. Support IT transformation initiatives, ensuring financial efficiency is central to the change process.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in information technology or information security
- A bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, cybersecurity, auditing, or business administration
- A master’s degree in a related field
- At least 5 years of IT/IS operations or service delivery experience, with increasing responsibility
- 3+ years of experience supporting or leading transformational change within IT
- A strong understanding of how to evaluate and mitigate risks using proven risk management approaches
- The ability to align IT/IS goals with business objectives and provide oversight strategies that make sense
- Experience participating in or leading operational reviews or audits
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of FinOps practices across multi-cloud environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build strategies that optimize cloud usage and reduce waste
- Provide meaningful insights and reporting on cloud spend and trends—helping teams forecast, budget, and stay within targets
- Use risk management principles to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks tied to cloud services
- Participate in (and sometimes lead) reviews and assessments of IT and cloud operations, identifying areas for improvement
- Support IT transformation initiatives by ensuring financial efficiency is a core part of the change process
- Recommend oversight strategies based on your understanding of IT/IS goals, risks, and solutions
Preferred Qualifications
- A FinOps certification (like FinOps Certified Practitioner)
- Experience with cloud cost management tools and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- A background in regulated industries or experience working with federal/state agencies
