Remote Communications Specialist

Summary

Join Blue Water Thinking as a Communications Specialist and support a large program at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive communication strategies to align with program goals. Create executive-level communication products, coordinate with subject matter experts, and ensure consistency with branding guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field
• A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in management analysis or related fields with a Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic communications plans in alignment with program goals and objectives
• Create, edit, and disseminate high-quality internal and external communications materials such as press releases, newsletters, presentations, talking points, and reports
• Serve as a liaison between the program team and key stakeholders, including government representatives, to facilitate effective communication
• Provide communications support for events, trainings, and meetings, including coordination of logistics and materials
• Conduct media relations activities, including crafting press releases, managing inquiries, and arranging interviews
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and recommend improvements
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior communications staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field
• Experience working in federal contracting, particularly with the Department of Veterans Affairs
• Strong knowledge of communications tools and platforms, including social media management
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
