Summary

Join Data & Society's Public Technology Leadership Collaborative (PTLC) as their Community Manager! This crucial role involves building and nurturing a vibrant community of practice, fostering peer learning and trust among members. You will design and lead a match-making program, plan and host pop-up events, support working groups, and develop valuable resources. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in collaborating with state and local governments, shaping technology policy, and working with academic researchers. This is a full-time, remote position with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in either Science & Technology Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Public Policy or other related fields
  • 5+ years’ of experience in and/or working in close collaboration with the state agencies, regulatory bodies, and city governments
  • 5+ years of experience in shaping and/or informing technology policy at the state or local level
  • Excellent written, analytical, and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in collaboration with multiple stakeholder groups while operationalizing a strategy
  • Demonstrate organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, while meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrate issue and research expertise in emerging professional fields of public interest technology

Responsibilities

  • Build and steward a vibrant community of practice to foster peer-learning and trust-building amongst the PTLC membership
  • Design and lead a PTLC match-making program that intentionally matches community members based on need/interest area to advance peer-learning and address time-sensitive policy questions
  • Plan, operationalize, and, over time, host demand-driven pop-ups rooted in community needs and interests to cultivate mutual understanding between stakeholder groups and improve policy outcomes
  • Support coordination of bespoke, demand-driven working groups in order to support groups in interrogating a time-bound specific question or co-developing practical resources for the PTLC community
  • Develop a robust suite of practical resources and artifacts rooted in community needs and interests to advance the PTLC’s objectives
  • Develop and maintain a community engagement database to source information about community needs/interests, support match-making program, and generate pop-up events

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in and/or working in close collaboration with academic researchers and research centers
  • Excellent oral presentation skills
  • Proactive self-starter and the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Slack, Canva, Zoom
