Requirements

  • An insatiable desire to challenge and change the status quo in the title industry
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent and at least 3-5 years of experience as a title curative, including Texas and national experience in purchase and refinance transactions
  • Familiarity with assignment contracts, transactional funding, double closings, title abstracts and chain of title, legal descriptions, surveys, lien searches, property taxes, probate, bankruptcy documents
  • An understanding of state-to-state curative requirements and variances
  • Ability to accurately analyze and evaluate documents as they relate to the title
  • Comprehensive knowledge of underwriting policies and guidelines
  • Comprehensive knowledge of real estate law and title and escrow curative procedures in addition to local regulatory title insurance laws & requirements
  • Operation with a sense of timeline urgency toward desired closing dates; ownership mindset, exceptional agility, and excellent problem solving skills
  • A “quarterback” mentality to collaborate with appropriate parties toward escalation resolution
  • You must have curative experience with Texas transactions to be considered for this position

Responsibilities

  • Execute Title Curative Functions with Excellence
  • Review title abstracts and chain of title, legal descriptions, surveys, lien searches, property taxes, probate, and bankruptcy documents
  • Prepare or review title commitments including requirements, endorsements, and exceptions
  • Cure title issues and review all clearance documentation for sufficiency
  • Draft and review documents, deeds, and state-specific recording transmittal forms
  • Review entity documents for authority and signature blocks
  • Identify dower and witnessing requirements for documents
  • Communicate and collaborate with underwriters and other employees for issue resolution and process enhancement
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-house examination experience is a plus
  • Resident title insurance license is a plus, any additional non-resident title insurance license an added plus
