Summary
Join Megaport as a Deployment Engineer and leverage technology to scale and strengthen our global network. You will design, analyze, test, and implement new site setups globally, collaborating with stakeholders and global suppliers. Responsibilities include creating technical input for deployments, consulting on system specifications, developing technical documentation, and leading configuration of enterprise switching gear. You will also design and implement cloud on-ramp connections and global circuits, while building in-house prototypes. This role requires strong analytical and strategic skills, experience with network automation, and proficiency with Atlassian tools. The ideal candidate possesses a CCNA certification or equivalent.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience designing and managing international networks
- Proven ability to work independently and apply advanced analytical and strategic skills in designing, developing, and testing global network operations
- Experience with network automation and scripting to ensure systems are fully operational upon deployment, with strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities
- Experience in a Network Operations Center (NOC) or similar operational role
- Skilled in analyzing, testing, and troubleshooting network hardware and configurations
- Strong project and team management skills
- Hands-on experience in network monitoring, configuration, and lifecycle management
- Experience with fiber optic technologies, including DWDM systems and related hardware
- Possesses CCNA certification or equivalent Junos OS qualifications
- Proficient with Atlassian tools, particularly Jira and Confluence
Responsibilities
- Design, analyse, test, and complete the setup of new sites globally
- Create technical input for site deployments and upgrades, including hardware and specific configuration requirements to suit the varying needs of the stakeholders
- Consult with stakeholders to determine system functional specifications and provide recommendations
- Develop technical documentation for testing and installation of hardware
- Lead configuration of enterprise switching gear (Cisco, Juniper), ready via remote secure methods
- Design, implement and test Cloud On-ramp connections with Cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Oracle)
- Advise and collaborate with a variety of global suppliers including data centres and carriers on deploying these new sites and develop strategies for anticipating, preparing for, and addressing any challenges that may arise
- Design, implement and test global circuits
- Design and build in-house prototypes for testing and to use to further educate stakeholders
- Lead team to ensure that deployment and migration plans stay on track
