Summary
Join Sustainment's Federal & Defense team as a Business Development Director to drive new customer acquisition in the Defense sector. This strategic role requires understanding our technology and defense customers' needs, developing creative applications of our software and network, and managing the full growth cycle. You will develop and execute long-term growth strategies, identify new mission areas, and collaborate with stakeholders. The position demands strong communication, relationship-building, and strategic thinking skills within a fast-paced environment. Remote work in the US is eligible. Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant acquisition, contracting, program management, business development, and/or capture experience in government and/or private sector in defense technology
- Experience in the technical, programmatic, and operational challenges of developing, deploying, and sustaining software for defense applications
- Ability to identify, establish, and leverage key relationships with senior and mid-level officials and program stakeholders within the Department of Defense
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior executives and customers; ability to translate complex topics, convince, and inspire through the written and spoken word
- Capable of succeeding in a fast-paced, ambiguous, dynamic, and creative environment
- Self-starter, comfortable working with limited oversight
- Ability to travel 25 - 75% required

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute long-term growth strategies
- Work with the Federal & Defense team and Sustainment leadership to identify new mission areas, develop entry strategies, and execute those strategies in collaboration with stakeholders from across the company
- Grow existing business, generate new opportunities, and capture new business
- Develop a deep understanding of existing and prospective customers, understand current and future Sustainment products and capabilities, and understand the competitive landscape
- Develop and execute coordinated approaches to new business opportunities and comprehensive capture campaigns
- Develop and maintain relationships with critical U.S. Department of Defense program office stakeholders
- Identify new business opportunities, proactively communicate and resolve program issues, and provide strategic input and direction to Sustainment’s product development, growth, and engineering teams
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and partners
- Communicate our value to customers, partners, competitors, and the interested public
- Project Sustainment’s mission, conveying insights that illustrate our approach to expanding the Defense Industrial Base and increase the DoD’s manufacturing capabilities
