Summary
Join That's No Moon, an independent game studio, as their Director, Production Management. Lead the production discipline for a AAA action-adventure game through its final development stages. This critical role ensures high-quality delivery and fosters a cohesive, high-performing production team. You will define delivery strategy, set project management standards, and guide cross-functional execution. Mentor a team of Production Leads, ensuring efficient and sustainable operations aligned with the game's creative vision. This hands-on leadership position demands expertise in late-stage game production, strategic planning, and people management.
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in AAA game production, particularly through the final phases of development and shipping
- Deep expertise in project management practices, milestone planning, risk mitigation, and production reporting
- Strong operational leadership skills, able to set up and drive efficient, effective cross-functional workflows
- Hands-on experience with production tools such as Jira, Shotgun/ShotGrid, Perforce, Confluence, or similar
- Exceptional team leadership and mentorship skills; proven success in managing other leads and developing talent within a production organization
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to balance creative needs with production realities, especially during polish and submission phases
- Calm under pressure, highly adaptable, and able to drive alignment in complex and fast-moving environments
- At least 10+ years of experience in game production, with 3+ years at a senior leadership or director level
- Shipped at least one AAA title in a senior production leadership role, ideally including ownership of polish and submission phases
- Experience leading, mentoring, and scaling a production team across multiple disciplines (design, art, engineering, narrative, audio)
- Deep understanding of live project dynamics from feature integration to bug fixing to final content lock
- Bachelor's degree in Production, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Responsibilities
- Lead the Production discipline across the game team, refining and setting the operational strategy for how the project is structured, planned, and executed through launch
- Guide, mentor, and support Production Leads, ensuring they and their producer teams are focused, aligned, and set up for success
- Define Jira and project tracking standards across the studio to ensure consistency and transparency
- Establish and maintain regular reporting on sprint and milestone burn downs, velocity metrics, and delivery risks to keep leadership informed and teams focused
- In partnership with the Senior Manager, Product Management, translate product vision and roadmaps into structured, feasible development plans, ensuring scope is achievable within time, budget, and resource constraints
- Drive clarity around ownership, priorities, deliverables, and handoffs across cross-functional teams
- Monitor milestone health, velocity, and team capacity across strike teams and departments
- Foster a unified, collaborative production culture, bringing together producers from across departments into a cohesive team with shared standards and practices
- Champion high standards of project management discipline, while creating space for iteration, creative experimentation, and problem-solving
- Monitor project and team health, proactively identifying risks and building mitigation strategies
- Represent Production leadership in executive updates, clearly communicating project status, challenges, and recommendations
- Advocate for healthy development practices that protect team wellbeing while achieving project goals
- Partner with Finance to support the project budget and maintain a healthy P&L
- Align budget planning with project needs by evaluating resource allocation and funding requirements
