Summary
Join PharmaEssentia, a growing biopharmaceutical innovator, as the Director, Thought Leader Engagement. Lead the Thought Leader Liaison team, cultivating relationships with key HCP partners in Hematology/Oncology. Serve as a strategic marketing partner, driving engagement with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and community-based Hematologists/Oncologists. Develop and execute thought leader engagement strategies, gather insights to shape brand strategy, and build tools to support implementation. Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze campaign data, and manage the engagement budget. This role requires strong rare disease/hematology/oncology experience and an enterprising spirit.
Requirements
- BS/BA or equivalent required preferably in Marketing, Science, Business Administration or other similar degree; an MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 10+ years pharmaceutical sales and/or marketing experience
- Hematology/Oncology experience is required
- Prior supervisory experience
- Strong scientific acumen and business acumen, with the ability to use knowledge of the industry and marketplace to formulate strategies that identify long-term benefits for our customers
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with KOLs
- Analytical skills to evaluate campaign performance and identify trends
- Creative thinking to develop engaging P2P collaboration concepts
- Knowledge of industry trends and target audience demographics
- Team player with the ability to work independently
- Leads through influence and with impact across teams
- Self-starter. Takes initiative and works independently to successfully work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands
- Strong strategic and tactical planning, project management, communication, and organization skills
- Understanding of compliance environment in pharmaceutical promotions
- Flexibility to travel 50-70% of the time, including evenings and weekends
- Must live within assigned geography, near a major airport
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategy for the TLL team
- Research and identify relevant Key Opinion Leaders within the target market based on their audience reach, credibility, and alignment with brand values
- Develop criteria for selecting KOLs and conduct thorough evaluations to ensure suitability for collaborations
- Initiate contact with potential KOLs and pitch partnership opportunities
- Establish strong, authentic relationships with KOLs through regular communication and engagement
- Understand KOLs' specific needs, interests, and audience demographics to tailor collaboration strategies
- Provide KOLs with necessary information, demo samples, or materials to facilitate effective content evaluation and/or creation
- Collaborate with Sales to fortify HCP relationship with PharmaEssentia
- Lead and direct insight gathering among opinion leaders including one-on-one engagements, small group meetings, national and regional advisory boards and steering committees to gather actionable information, coordinating with other functions
- Monitor the competitive landscape, treatment protocols and other market trends, report findings to marketing, provide actionable recommendations and pull through tactical initiatives
- Primary point of contact for the Marketing team and organization for Thought Leader Engagement
- Provide strategic and tactical input for brand planning, resource allocation and other Marketing long-term planning discussions
- Support and manage commercial advisory boards / steering committees
- Develop targeted P2P marketing material/messaging aligned with brand objectives
- Review P2P content to ensure alignment with brand guidelines and messaging
- Provide input for Speaker Bureau development, training, etc
- Manage KOLs for internal meetings and external events
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as reach, engagement, conversions, and brand mentions across P2P campaigns
- Monitor campaign progress and adjust as needed to optimize results
- Analyze campaign data to identify successes and areas for improvement, generate comprehensive reports for stakeholders
- Manage Thought Leader Engagement budget to optimize results
