Summary

Join LGC, a global life science tools company, as a Field Service Application Scientist I! This multi-disciplinary role combines molecular biology and organic chemistry expertise to provide field-based customer support, assay verification/validation, and applications development. Ideally, the candidate will be located in the West Coast region, Denver, Colorado, or Sacramento, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics, or related field
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in the field of genetics, molecular biology and/or oligo synthesis
  • Working knowledge of and/or experience with PCR, Real-Time PCR, nucleic acid purification, data analysis, experimental design, and oligo synthesis

Responsibilities

  • Provide field-based customer support
  • Perform customer assay verification/validation on LGC instrumentation
  • Provide scientific support for applications development of LGC technologies
  • Provide various levels of technical support on LGC instrumentation and software
  • Operate laboratory equipment
  • Perform on-site installation of instrumentation
  • Develop testing protocols
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and software issues
  • Analyze data
  • Keep current on emerging technologies in molecular biology and organic chemistry
  • Assist and work closely with an international customer base on their applications needs
  • Provide technical support for customer queries, which may require on-site troubleshooting in customer labs
  • Collaborate with other internal teams by providing technical and scientific support during the installation of equipment
  • Provide customer training and technical/application related support
  • Work with current and potential customers to understand and validate their samples and assays on LGC instrumentation
  • Evaluate assay design
  • Optimize PCR reaction conditions
  • Perfect sample extraction protocols
  • Optimize oligo synthesis protocols
  • Research and development of novel methods and support of new products
  • Contribute to applications support and/or to the routine operation of the laboratory
  • Provide scientific support to meet the needs of the various departments within the company
  • Provide smart hands in the field to support field service engineers, fixes, installations, and PMs
  • Develop application notes, scientific posters, and other presentation materials in support of sales and marketing
  • Travel to represent LGC at tradeshows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics, or related field
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in the field of genetics, molecular biology and/or oligo synthesis
