Flight Software Intern

Summary

Join AST SpaceMobile's Flight Software team as a part-time remote intern and contribute to the development of software for our space-based cellular broadband network. You will work alongside experienced engineers on crucial tasks, utilizing your scripting and problem-solving skills. This internship offers valuable experience in software development, version control, and collaboration within a dynamic team. While C++ experience is preferred, it's not mandatory. The internship is fully remote, but hybrid or on-site options are available. The position is paid, offering 10-20 hours of work per week.

Requirements

• Possess strong problem-solving skills in a scripting language such as Python or MATLAB
• Demonstrate familiarity with object-oriented design principles and a willingness to use them

Responsibilities

• Work with junior, senior & principal engineers on tasks essential for operation
• Attend regular tag-up meetings to ensure progress and work through blockers
• Learn and use good version control practices essential for working on codebases shared across the company
• Understand a task, ask clarifying questions, and drive towards a solution
• See through tasks to completion, including verifying results, documenting completed work, and cleaning up code

Preferred Qualifications

• Have C++ experience
• Have experience with a version control system (preferably Git)
• Have experience with any of the following: linear algebra, computational physics, quaternions, Kalman filters
