Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Jira Administrator managing complex configurations and projects
  • In-depth knowledge of JQL, board management, dashboard configurations, and Jira automation
  • Strong understanding of Jira workflows, permissions, filters, dashboards, and plugin management
  • Experience integrating Jira with tools like GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and other development platforms
  • Solid understanding of Agile, Scrum, and SDLC methodologies
  • Proficiency with Jira REST APIs, scripting languages (Groovy, Python, or JavaScript), and automation frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, governance committees, and cross-functional team initiatives
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end administration and configuration of Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Jira Plans
  • Develop and optimize custom forms, workflows, fields, automation rules, dashboards, filters, and reports tailored to business needs
  • Configure and maintain user roles, permissions, and security settings in alignment with governance policies
  • Implement Jira plugins, marketplace add-ons, and integrations with third-party tools such as GitHub, Confluence, CI/CD tools, and monitoring systems
  • Perform system upgrades, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal Jira performance
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Product, UI/UX, and Engineering teams to gather requirements and align Jira enhancements with business goals
  • Lead a Jira governance committee to review and approve platform changes, ensuring compliance with SDLC best practices and Agile methodologies
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), change control processes, and approval workflows within Jira
  • Manage integrations between Jira and tools like GitHub, Zendesk, Bitbucket, and CI/CD pipelines, optimizing system performance and data flow
  • Build automation rules and scripting solutions using ScriptRunner, REST APIs, or Atlassian Forge to streamline workflows
  • Implement and manage Jira Chat (Atlassian Assist) and Jira On-Call (OpsGenie) within Jira Service Management projects
  • Oversee and prioritize Jira-related projects, data migrations, and change requests, ensuring timely delivery based on business needs
  • Develop and deliver user training, documentation, and workshops to promote Jira best practices
  • Provide tier-2/3 Jira support, troubleshoot complex issues, and collaborate with Atlassian Support when necessary
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base with FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and documentation of system enhancements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Atlassian Marketplace add-ons, including ScriptRunner and OpsGenie
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Forge and custom Jira app development
  • Experience supporting teams within a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment
  • Background in data migrations between Jira instances or other project management platforms
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to lead meetings, workshops, and governance committees
